Yunnan Cancer Hospital was established in 1984. In 2021, it was approved as a National Cancer Regional Medical Center project. In June 2024, the Yunnan Hospital of Peking University Cancer Hospital (National Cancer Regional Medical Center) was inaugurated at the hospital. The hospital is a Grade III Level A cancer specialty hospital in Yunnan Province integrating medical services, education, research, and prevention. In July 2025, the proton and heavy ion accelerator successfully delivered its first beam. Equipment commissioning is expected to be completed in 2026, with clinical validation to begin.
