Introduction

Founded on February 15, 1915, Peking University First Hospital (PKUFH) is a large-scale Grade A tertiary general hospital integrating medical services, education, research, disease prevention, and public health. It is also one of China's leading high-level hospitals driving clinical research and the translation of scientific achievements. Over the past century, the hospital has pioneered numerous specialized disciplines and diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in China, making outstanding contributions to the nation's medical field. PKUFH offers a comprehensive range of disciplines, with its overall strength ranking among the top domestically and reaching international standards. PKUFH remains committed to patient-centered care and continuously optimizes its medical services. It houses 39 clinical departments, 12 medical technology departments, and 71 inpatient wards with 2,259 beds. In 2023, the hospital recorded 3.24 million outpatient and emergency visits, 112,000 inpatient discharges, nearly 46,000 surgeries, and an average length of stay of 5.4 days. Multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultations are provided for complex and critically ill patients, with 53 MDT teams covering oncology, cardiovascular diseases, stroke, metabolic disorders, critical care, rare diseases, and other fields. Over 2,000 complex cases are reviewed through MDT consultations annually.
