Introduction
Founded in 1869, The Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine is one of the birthplaces of Western medicine in China and the first in Zhejiang Province. It is the nation's first Grade A tertiary hospital and hosts over 10 national-level platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Transvascular Implantable Devices, the Industry-Education Integration Innovation Platform for Cardiovascular Implantable Devices, the Near-Physiological Environment In Vitro Simulation Testing System and Platform for Novel Cardiovascular Interventional Implants and Devices, the Project for Enhancing the Diagnosis and Treatment of Complex Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education (Early Warning and Intervention of Malignant Tumors, Early Warning and Intervention of Multiple Organ Failure), the Innovation Center for Basic Research on Digestive System Tumors, and the National Emergency Medical Rescue Base. It currently has 17 national key clinical specialties/disciplines. Its clinical service capabilities, total surgical volume, volume of Grade III/IV surgeries, and Case Mix Index (CMI) are all among the nation's top. The hospital has established national benchmarks such as the 'Hangzhou Protocol' for transcatheter heart valve replacement, micro-incision complex cataract surgery, standardized diagnosis and treatment of colorectal tumors, and management of mass severe trauma. The perioperative survival rate for pediatric liver transplantation is internationally leading. It was the first in the country to fully implement day surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery, and it initiated and advocates the 'Efficiency-Oriented Healthcare' development pathway. It is one of the most efficient large public general hospitals in China and is widely recognized as a national pioneer in 'Internet + Healthcare' and a frontrunner in targeted medical assistance.
